NI Water is advising non-domestic customers who have had to close their doors for a period of time, to be mindful of their water needs during the COVID19 outbreak, which will prevent running up unnecessary water bills.

Businesses and property owners should therefore:

  • Check their water supply is safely secured before they lock up. Leaking or burst pipes can have significant implications for your business. In this period of uncertainty, securing your water supply is something you can do until your doors open again.
  • Turn off all non-essential water in buildings which are not going to be in use for a period of time, including e.g. the automatic flushing of urinals.
  • Make sure toilet cisterns have been checked and aren’t leaking into the toilet or through an overflow.

If you can safely access your premises, it would be worth taking a reading of your water meter over a 24 hour period to check if you are still using water.

Information on water supply issues is available 24/7 by logging onto http://www.niwater.com/current-service-updates/. NI Water’s Customer Relations Centre is also available to via Waterline on 03457 440088.
