July Update

Further works will be carried out for footpath enhancements to the crossings at the Great Victoria Street/Grosvenor Road/Howard Street junction on Monday 15th July 2024.

These works will predominately be carried out during day-time hours between 9:30am and 4:00pm and will last approximately 8 weeks. Weekend work may also be required to aid the completion of the works.

Night time works will be required on Thursday 18th July 2024 to install the temporary traffic light system at the junction to facilitate the construction works. These works will not involve any noisy activities.

Various lane closures will be required on Great Victoria Street, Grosvenor Road, Howard Street and Fisherwick Place throughout this period at off-peak times between 9:30am and 4:00pm, subject to DfI approval. An inbound and outbound traffic lane will be maintained at all times on all roads at this junction during these works.

Please note, pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this period.

June Update

Sunday 23rd June: 1 northbound lane closure on Great Victoria Street with diversions in place to construct the pedestrian crossing from the end of Glengall Street and half of the pedestrian crossing on Great Victoria St. The lane closure will be in place from 07.00 – 23.59.

Grosvenor Road Lane Closure for Public Realm Improvement Program

As part of the Belfast Grand Central Station project, there will be significant investment in public realm improvement works around the new station to enhance walking routes, accessibility and cycling.

In order to complete these works, lane and footpath closures are required heading west on Grosvenor Road. The closure will begin before the Durham Street junction and end at the junction with the A12 (Westlink).

This lane and footpath closure will commence from Monday 15th April and is planned for a duration of around three months.

Street Works Programme Works

As part of the award of the construction to the main works elements of the Grand Central Station, this award included a significant update to the local roads network.

  • Phase One*A: Sandy Row Street Upgrades (which has no direct link to station opening)
  • Phase Two: Streets that will be complete after the station opening
