Extension to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme announced
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, has announced today that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will be extended to 31st October. Employees will continue to receive 80% of their monthly wages up to £2,500 but the government will ask Companies to “start sharing” the cost of the Scheme from August. From the start of August, furloughed workers will be able to return to work part-time with employers being asked to pay a percentage towards the salaries of their furloughed staff.
The Chancellor told the Commons that from August, the Scheme would continue for all sectors and regions of the Country but with greater flexibility to support the transition back to work.
