Active travel across Belfast
One of the aims in Belfast City Council’s Bolder Vision strategy for Belfast is prioritising walking, cycling and public transport. This will improve wellbeing, create more space for people and make it easier to move between the city centre and surrounding communities. Belfast City Council have several active travel projects underway to achieve these goals:
They’re running an expression of interest exercise to provide secure cycle storage at key locations in Belfast.
Expression of interest to provide cycle storage in Belfast
BCC have opened Belfast’s first secure cycle storage facility at CastleCourt. They are now exploring market interest in creating publicly accessible, secure cycle storage facilities at locations across Belfast.
Safe, secure cycle parking sites across Belfast
They invite expressions of interest from operators keen to deliver and maintain safe and secure cycle parking at sites outside Belfast city centre, but within the Belfast City Council boundary.
Potential sites could include, but are not limited to surface car parks, multi-storey car parks or existing retail units. We also invite proposals to repurpose vacant units and bring them back into use.
