About Fresh Garbage

Fresh Garbage, known to some as simply "Fresh" or "The garbage shop" isnamed after the lead track on the first album by US 1960s group Spirit; Fresh garbage first opened its doors in Bank Street in 1969 and has been a Mecca for youth culture ever since. Renowned for being at the cutting edge of alternative fashion and street fashion, this distinctive shop merits mention in many international guides as well as The Lonely Planet.

Fresh garbage started serving the hippies,punks,skinheads and students of Belfast through the late 60’s, early 70’s and the troubles and remained there until 1985 when it relocated to its current premises on Rosemary Street. Still a family run business that has stayed true to its roots since day one.

It really does have something for everybody and the heady mix of incense and music make any visit an experience. Specialising in rock tee shirts and merchandise, belts, silver and jewellery, body jewellery, hippy/punk/goth clothing and accessories, incense,scarves,sun glasses,wallets,tarot cards,crystals,make- up,perfumes,ornaments,smoking accessories and all that is required for an alternative lifestyle!
