More choice & convenience for commuters and visitors in Belfast
Translink has introduced two new self-service Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) in Donegall Square West, offering passengers a quicker and more convenient way to buy their tickets before boarding. This installation is part of Translink's ‘Future Ticketing System’ designed to enhance customer experience across Northern Ireland.
The new TVMs allow travellers to purchase single, all-day and Family & Friends tickets, as well as topping up smartcard products like Smartlink, dayLink and iLink, accepting a number of payment methods including contactless debit/credit cards, Apple Pay & Google Pay. Young people can also use their yLink cards for discounted travel.
With a modern touchscreen interface, adjustable screen height, voice commands, and braille stickers, the TVM is user-friendly and accessible for all passengers.
Kerry Kearney, Topology Configuration Manager, Translink, said: “We’re delighted to bring these new self-serve ticket machines to this bustling location in Belfast city centre as part of our ongoing investment in passenger-centric technology. These user-friendly TVMs offer customers even more flexibility in how and when they purchase tickets, helping them enjoy good value journeys. Pre-purchasing tickets in advance also helps to speed up boarding times too.”
Martina Connolly, CEO of Belfast One BID, said: “This Translink facility in the heart of our city centre is a welcome boost for everyone visiting, working or living in the area. At Belfast One, we recognise the important role public transport plays in fulfilling our commitment to drive economic growth, improve the environment and support our business community so we would encourage the travelling public to take advantage of this convenient service.”
Having signed up to Translink’s Better on Board Charter, encouraging a modal shift away from private motoring towards public transport, Cat McCusker, PwC NI Regional Market Leader, said: “As a local employer with clear ESG goals, we’re committed to encouraging our staff to increase their use of public transport, helping to reduce congestion, improve air quality and create a more sustainable future. Developments like these new TVMs offer commuters more choice and availability when it comes to buying their tickets and choosing public transport.”
The new TVMs being rolled out across Northern Ireland complement the existing variety of ticket purchase options including the Translink website, mLink app, ticket offices and on-board services. For more information visit www.translink.co.uk.
