Since 2024, Belfast One have been campaigning for increased PSNI provision after 6pm in the city centre as there was a void between day time and night shifts. Belfast One are pleased to inform you that from Monday 6th April 2026 PSNI have increased their resource that is dedicated to the City Centre by adding a third team to the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team (Central NPT).
There is now coverage by Central NPT from 8am to midnight Monday to Thursday and also on a Friday from 8am – 6pm the PSNI have doubled the number of officers on duty.
PSNI have introduced a Safer Belfast Team operating on a Friday and Saturday evening from 11pm – 3am. This consists of 1 Inspector, 1 Sergeant and 8 Constables dedicated to the Night Time Economy in the City Centre all on foot patrol and highly visible. The officers will come from all 4 Belfast Stations and change each week.
This is great news for Belfast One and the businesses within the Night Time Economy and this coverage will compliment our dedicated Belfast One PSNI officers who operate in the city during retail hours.
