Belfast One BID is thrilled to announce the return of its much‑loved outdoor summer cinema on the City Hall lawn, bringing a vibrant burst of silver screen entertainment and footfall to the city centre across two Sundays this summer, taking place on Sunday 27th July and Sunday 3rd August.
The first batch of tickets is now available at £2 each (to cover administration), with a second wave of tickets available on Tuesday 8th July.
This year, the Summer Cinema will return with two themed weekends – familiar favourites and singalong Sunday, catering for every age and taste. Ticket holders can also enjoy exclusive discounts, giveaways, and tailor-made offers in select shops and outlets across the city centre.
Across two weekends, families and film lovers can enjoy four screenings per day – from crowd-pleasing hits like Inside Out and Dogman to singalong favourites: Moana, Frozen 2, Mamma Mia!, The Greatest Showman, and a high-energy performance of Wicked and Top Gun.
There will be added entertainment each day including face-painting, walkabout characters, and performers. There will also be live performances from Make A Sound and Belfast Rock Choir. Families attending the Summer Cinema can also avail of Translink’s family & friends ticket, to allow visitors to travel both more sustainably and affordably.
Martina Connolly, CEO of Belfast One shares her excitement about the return of the initiative: “We are delighted to bring back Belfast One’s Summer Cinema, this is Northern Ireland’s largest outdoor cinema event, which draws visitors from across the region and delivers a significant boost to city centre footfall, with thousands attending year after year. Taking place in the heart of Belfast One, it offers a fantastic opportunity for attendees to support our vibrant local economy in the city centre by eating, drinking, and shopping in nearby businesses, while enjoying quality film and family entertainment.
The Summer Cinema is part of a wider series of Sunday events we’re running throughout the summer; events designed to animate the city centre and enhance the buzz and vibrancy that makes Belfast such a great place to visit and enjoy. This year, we’re proud to again offer fun value-led activities for local residents, tourists, young families and friends to enjoy making it an inclusive and affordable day out for everyone.”
These summer cinema dates will bring a unique weekend of great films in the open air for people of all ages, filling the grounds of Belfast City Hall with big‑screen delights, offering both excitement and nostalgia for everyone,” Ms Connolly continues.
Holly Milne, Brand Manager Dale Farm says: “We are delighted to be part of Belfast’s One’s Summer Cinema this summer. Dale Farm will be on site during selected screenings, providing ice cream samples across two days. It’s a perfect opportunity for us to share some of our favourite Dale Farm treats and connect with the community in a fun and relaxed setting.”
As with previous sell-out editions, audiences should come prepared: it’s an outdoor cinema experience, so warm clothing and picnic blankets are highly recommended. Dogs on leads are welcome, and although there’s no formal seating, the vibrant atmosphere and city-centre buzz more than make up for it.
Tickets for Belfast One’s summer cinema are allocated on a first come first served basis and can be purchased on Belfast Film Festival’s What’s On page: https://belfastfilmfestival.org/whats-on
