Belfast One is buzzing with the arrival of two giant bee installations at 2 Royal Avenue and Bank Square. These striking plant installations are part of an ambitious initiative to transform Belfast’s cityscape into a greener, more vibrant, and sustainable environment.
Funded by Belfast City Council under the Department for Infrastructure’s Grey to Green initiative, the installation of the giant bee sculptures signifies Belfast One BID’s commitment to creating ‘lively, safe, and green streets’ – a core principle of ‘A Bolder Vision for Belfast.’
Martina Connolly, CEO of Belfast One BID, expressed her excitement about the project:
“We are thrilled to see the arrival of our new bee installations, funded by Belfast City Council through the Department of Infrastructure’s ‘Grey to Green’ initiative. This project represents Belfast One’s commitment to enhancing the aesthetic appeal of our city and encouraging a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship.”
To engage the local community, Belfast One will invite children to participate in a ‘Name Our Bees’ competition, fostering a sense of ownership and involvement in the city’s greening efforts.
In addition to beautifying the urban landscape, these installations aim to improve air quality, support biodiversity, and create welcoming spaces for all to enjoy.
